How it works
How it works
Slack has no font menu, so each style swaps your letters for look-alike Unicode characters, such as the mathematical bold or script alphabets, or adds combining marks for strikethrough and underline. Type once, then copy the style you like.
The result is ordinary text, so it pastes into messages, your status and your display name.
Where it works on Slack
It is refused or breaks in channel names, which take lowercase letters, digits, - and _.
Slack also formats some text itself: use its own markup, shown in the tool, when you want real formatting rather than look-alike letters.
