Can I get a non-square result?

No, the frame is always square. Crop the PNG afterwards, or use Image Clipper to trim the transparent edges.

Which SVGs work as a mask?

Any SVG with filled shapes. Only the filled area matters, the colours do not; strokes with no fill do not count.

Why is my export smaller than I expected?

At 1× the side is the short side of the picture divided by the zoom. Raise Scale for a larger file.

How it works

Pick a shape, frame the picture

Choose a family of shapes and one of its 12 variants. Drag the picture inside the square to frame it, and zoom from 0.1× to 8×. Grey in the preview shows where the picture does not reach.

Instead of a built-in shape you can open an SVG: its filled areas keep the image and empty areas become transparent.

Exporting

The output is a square PNG with everything outside the shape transparent. At 1× one image pixel is one output pixel; Scale of 0.5×, 2× or 3× changes that, up to 8192 px on a side. You can download it or copy it to the clipboard.
