Report

Open an image to read everything it carries: file facts, camera, exposure, location, colour profile and pixel scopes.

Runs in your browser; nothing you enter leaves this page.

How it works

What gets read

The file’s EXIF, XMP, IPTC, JFIF and PNG header fields are read in your browser and grouped into File, Camera, Exposure, Location and Other. Camera make, model, lens and software come first.

Anything with a long value, such as a maker note or an XMP packet, is shortened in the table; the copied report keeps up to 500 characters of it.

Colour and pixels

The image is drawn onto a canvas, at most 512 pixels on its long side, and every pixel is counted into a red, green and blue histogram. The share of pixels that are not fully opaque is shown as transparency.

If the file carries an ICC profile, its name is shown, along with how much of its gamut falls outside sRGB when the profile allows that to be worked out.

transparent = pixels with alpha < 255 / all pixels

Location

When the photo has GPS tags, the latitude and longitude are shown with a link that opens the spot on OpenStreetMap in a new tab. Nothing is sent until you click it.
