How it works
Frames
The range is sampled at the frame rate you pick: the video is sought to each time, drawn at the output size and read back as pixels. The ticks on the filmstrip show where those frames fall.
A GIF holds at most 300 frames here, about 150 MB of pixels while it is built; lower the rate or shorten the range past that.
frames = round((end − start) × frame rate)
Colours
GIF allows 256 colours per frame. Each frame gets its own palette, picked by gifenc's quantiser from its pixels, so gradients band a little but every frame keeps its own colours. The file loops forever.
Size
The width is never larger than the video's, and the height follows its shape. Halving the width roughly quarters the file.
