How it works
Numbers from a template
The text box is a template: {n} becomes the page's number and {N} the number of pages, so “Page {n} of {N}” gives “Page 3 of 12”. Choose one of nine positions, a font, a size and the distance from the edge in millimetres. The preview shows the number on the page you are looking at.
Numbering starts at the page you choose, with the number you choose, and can be arabic (1, 2, 3), lower or upper roman (i, ii, iii) or letters (a, b, c). Pages before the first numbered page stay clean, which suits a cover or contents pages. You can also leave only the first page blank.
label of page p = start + (p − first numbered page), written in the chosen numerals
Stamp and watermark
A stamp is one line of text on every page. As a small label it sits at a position you pick; as a watermark it runs diagonally across the page, sized to span about 80% of the page's short side, with the opacity you set.
The standard PDF fonts only cover Western European characters. Lines that contain anything else, such as Vietnamese letters, are drawn as a picture in your browser and placed on the page, so they look right but cannot be selected.
